Mya Deloa, Therapist

License: Marriage and Family Therapy Intern
Ages Served: 10 to 65+

I have always been fascinated by people and the reasons behind why we think, feel, and behave the way we do. That curiosity inspired me to pursue a career where I could help others create meaningful and lasting change in their lives.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois Chicago and am currently a graduate student at Northwestern University pursuing a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I strive to create a supportive, collaborative, and safe environment where clients feel heard, validated, and understood. I have a particular interest in working with couples and families navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, and personal growth.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and systemic, recognizing that our relationships, family dynamics, work, and life experiences all influence our overall well-being. I believe every client has unique strengths, and I view therapy as a collaborative process focused on fostering resilience and creating meaningful change. To best meet each client’s individual needs, I draw from evidence-based approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Bowen Family Systems Theory, and Narrative Therapy.

Outside of counseling, I value family, health and wellness, and compassion. I enjoy spending time with loved ones, hosting family gatherings, traveling, baking, and spending time with my dogs. As a lifelong Chicago-area resident, I appreciate having such a vibrant city nearby to explore.
