Helping Kids with the Challenges of Growing Up

Growing up can be exciting, but it can also feel tricky at times. Kids today face lots of feelings and challenges as they learn more about themselves and how to make and keep good friendships. Sometimes, these challenges can lead to feeling worried, sad, or frustrated.

At White Oak Institute, we offer a safe and caring space where kids can learn and grow. Through our Coping Skills for Kids group, they’ll practice important tools like calming breaths, mindfulness, ways to manage big feelings, and how to get along with others. Parents can feel confident knowing their kids are supported as they build skills to feel strong and happy.

Together, we’ll help kids celebrate what makes them special, connect with friends who understand, and learn how to handle life’s ups and downs with confidence and kindness.

Coping Skills For Kids Group FAQs

Kids’ Coping Skills are practical tools and techniques designed to help children manage emotions, navigate stress, improve relationships, and build confidence. These skills empower kids to handle everyday challenges and develop resilience in a supportive and nurturing environment.

This group is open to children aged 7–12 who want to learn how to manage their emotions, improve their relationships, and develop practical ways to handle stress. No prior experience with therapy or coping skills training is required.
Sessions include fun and engaging activities such as mindfulness exercises, group discussions, creative journaling, emotional awareness games, and role-playing. These interactive exercises make learning coping skills enjoyable, relatable, and practical for kids.
Each session lasts one hour and is kept small to create a supportive and interactive environment where kids feel heard, valued, and comfortable.
While the sessions focus on equipping kids with skills, parents can stay informed about the techniques being taught and how to support their child’s growth at home. Parental involvement may vary depending on individual needs and preferences.
If your child is struggling with stress, emotional challenges, or social relationships, this group can provide them with the skills and support they need to thrive. If you’re unsure, our team can help assess whether this program is the right fit for your child.
